Working conditions and level of engagement in nursing professionals in a public hospital in Ica-Peru

Abstract

Objective: To determine the working conditions and level of Engagement in the nursing professional of a public hospital in Ica-Peru, Ica year 2021. Material and methods: A quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study and non-experimental design was carried out, with a sample made up of 48 graduates. The survey was used as a technique, as instruments a MINSA Likert-type questionnaire and the UWES UTRECH questionnaire, measures of central tendency, the use of frequencies and percentage analysis were applied. Results: 48 nursing professionals were surveyed, most of whom were 54 years of age or older (n= 17; 35%), predominantly female (n=43; 90%), married (n=24; 50%), appointed (n=38; 79%), service time of six years or more (n=40; 86%), report not suffering from diseases (n=42; 90%). The working conditions are favorable in the dimensions: physical condition (n=29; 60%), psychological condition (n=28; 58%), social condition (n=25; 52%) and according to global consolidation it is favorable (n =27; 56%). The level of engagement according to the vigor dimension is medium (n=18; 38%), the dedication dimension is high (n=21; 43%), the absorption dimension is medium (n=24; 50%) and the overall result is medium ( n=20; 42%). Conclusions: The working conditions are favorable and the level of engagement is medium in the nursing professionals of a public hospital in Ica-Peru.
