Redactar un manuscrito de los resultados de un estudio para enviarlo a una revista revisada por pares e indizada se ha convertido
en un tema de gran interés entre la comunidad universitaria debido a necesidades académicas, profesionales y de
licenciamiento.
El arte de preparar un manuscrito sólo puede adquirirse siguiendo ciertas reglas básicas y aspectos técnicos, además de
conocimientos y habilidades (1,2).
Es necesario que la redacción sea clara, concisa, precisa, organizada, fundamentada y honrada, evitando vicios de escritura como
artificios, vacuidad, monotonía, improvisación, coloquialismo y ambigüedad. Hay que considerar que la probabilidad que el
manuscrito sea aceptado en una revista importante aumenta si el texto es escrito en un inglés científico, pulido y fluido (2).
Antes de preparar el manuscrito se debe haber elegido la revista de destino para cumplir con todas las instrucciones para los
autores las mismas que deben seguirse meticulosamente para evitar rechazo cuando se envíe. La estructura básica del
manuscrito a seguir se puede resumir con las siglas IMRyD (introducción, métodos, resultados y discusión) (3,4).
Es fundamental realizar una búsqueda bibliográfica exhaustiva utilizando bases de datos médicas como PubMed, Scopus, Web
of Science y Google Scholar y considerar 20 o más referencias relevantes. Los revisores suelen ser expertos en el contenido, y si
no se citan artículos importantes y suficientes se corre el riesgo de rechazo del manuscrito (2,3).
Una de las estrategias para escribir manuscritos científicos es seguir el siguiente orden: iniciar por el apartado métodos, seguir
con resultados, discusión e introducción, otros aconsejan iniciar creando un borrador de figuras y tablas para la presentación de
datos buscando una secuencia clara, los otros apartados se escriben posteriormente dejando al final el resumen (2).
Es importante tener en cuenta que el interesado primero lee el título, si este le resulta atractivo leerá el resumen y continuará
con la lectura del texto completo. Por lo tanto, es necesario que el resumen deba ofrecer una visión clara y concisa del contenido
del estudio.
Cada autor debe familiarizarse con la lista de puntos esenciales que deben describirse en la publicación de estudios
observacionales como el STROBE (Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology), con la lista de
verificación PRISMA 2020 para revisiones sistémicas y metanálisis y la lista de comprobación para ensayos clínicos aleatorizados
el CONSORT (2,3,5).
